The Hate Speech And Social Media Bill: We All Have A Role To Play.

The Hate Speech And Social Media Bill: We All Have A Role To Play.
The Hate Speech And Social Media Bill: We All Have A Role To Play.
My cousin is a business man. Went through the Igbo "oga" system like most enterprising young Igbo men. I like engaging him in intellectual discussions whenever I get the opportunity, and he gets it most of the time.

Whenever his business buddies come around I like to engage them too, because I believe that it is the duty of every educated Igbo person to enlighten our brothers and sisters who weren't fortunate enough to go to university. This is how I think we can truly thrive as a people. Money alone without knowledge will make us a nation of rich stupid people.

Now, since this hate speech/social media bill brouhaha started, I've been explaining it to everyone who cares to listen, the implications of it and why we must never let it happen. And he's the only around me most of the time to listen to my rants, but somehow he's been quite unfazed by it.

During the sermon at mass today, the priest took his time to educate the congregation about  the hate speech bill. He explained it in layman terms so everyone understood exactly what we're being dragged into. I was excited!
When we got home, my cousin said to me, "I didn't realize this hate speech bill was this serious. For father to talk about it in church means there's fire on the mountain".

I have been singing this same song for weeks now and it didn't affect him as much coming from me until the priest said it in church. This is the power religious leaders wield over the average Nigerian.

Now let's back track to the sermon.

The priest did so well. He was doing so well until the end.

He ended the sermon by saying, "these politicians do all these things to us, forgetting that after this life we're going to give account to God for everything we did on earth. God will hold them accountable in the end".
That part killed the entire sermon for me!
He was doing so well until the end!

I haven't felt this disappointed since the season finale of Game of Thrones. He identified the problem, educated the people on their impending predicament, then ended it all by handing it over to God.
Really?

Maybe I expected too much of him.
All that power and influence, and he just leaves everything to God.
This docile ideology is the reason for our predicament in Nigeria.

I truly do not have a problem with religion in Nigeria, my only problem is how it is used to numb the minds of the people. This is the main reason Nigerians will not stand up to demand for change. The reason we will never revolt no matter what is done to us. Because we keep leaving our problems and our oppressors to God.
Our minds have been numbed by this docility from religion doctrines. And I think it's about time the church changed this ideology. We keep talking about the afterlife while we're already in hell right here on earth. Something needs to change.

"God go help us", the Nigerian's favorite answer to difficulties.
But will God really do for us what we can do for ourselves?

THE SAMSUNG APP THAT WILL HELP PARENTS SEND LULLABY TO THEIR PREMATURE BABIES

The well know smartphone/gadget manufacturer Samsung is at it again, Samsung is now working on an application that is capable of sending recording(s) straight from parents to their premature babies who are definitely still in the hospital and under care. A report from Engadget states that, the app, which is called Voices of Life, can easily allow parents to record stories and lullabies, and then removes any high-frequency sounds that would in turn be uncomfortable for the baby to hear.

baby incubator 2
baby incubator
Nevertheless, Samsung still went ahead to released a video on YouTube about the application that clearly shows a small size speaker set inside a baby's incubator presumably connected to the Voices of Life application. Samsung seems to be seriously pushing the idea of replicating a womb as well, and only describes how a mother could be able to use Voices of Life, but it seems probable that fathers would be able to use it as well, wonderful lucky for the men then!!!

However It's not clear for now how close the application is to being finished, or when it might be publicly available for the masses to lay their hands on as well, so watch out and stay tuned to watch Samsung deliver a fresh new innovation.

Where Is The Nigerian / African Race Heading To?

Where Is The Nigerian / African Race Heading To?
Where Is The Nigerian / African Race Heading To?
I made a post some while ago pointing out some flaws and poor decision making of some Jewish ancestors and their customs. You can't believe that my timeline was literally lit on fire for 3 good days by people trying to defend the ancient Jews and their way of life, well that is their cup of tea anyway.

I left Facebook that day around past 1:00 AM in the morning and woke up to 73 notifications by 6:30 AM I was shocked because it is been a while I saw such on my account.
I had to turn off notifications from that post to catch a breather and preserve my sanity.

Sadly though, none of these people were Jews, can you imagine. They were all my fellow country men and women, Nigerians for that matter. To them, they were defending their Christian faith, Which was really weird and ironic because the post never mentioned 'Jesus', the supposed founder of the Christian religion anywhere in it. I don't think they noticed though.

A lot of Nigerians do not realize that most of what they call religion today is actually the culture and traditions of another race from another time. Ideally, that is how religion works everywhere around the world. A people's religion is interwoven with their history, culture, traditions, folklores, and legends.

gods are supposed to resemble the people they represent. That is why after the Romans adopted Christianity as their state religion, they had to change the image of Christ into a white man. There was no way in hell the white man was going to bow down to some middle eastern colored fella.

But down here, we are a mentally enslaved people.
A people with a lost identity.
A demonized identity.
A whole nation of people who despise their own image and cultural heritage.
A nation that does not even teach it's own history in its schools.
Instead, keeps fighting over which foreign culture it should indoctrinate it's children with; the Arab culture or the Jewish culture, both wrapped up in the guise of religion.

At the end of the day, we have kids who know everything about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, down to Moses before they can even read. Who then grow up into adults who can not trace their own family tree back to the last five generations. Most do not even know the road to their villages as term 'My village people' now means 'My enemies'. Some can not speak or even understand their own local dialects anymore. Why should they? Our ancestors were all evil devil worshiping heathens. Nothing like the holy and saintly Jewish ancestors who could do no wrong.

This is why most Nigerians think that defending the bible, the Jewish history book, and all that is written inside it, be it good or bad, is a juxtaposition of defending Jesus Christ. This is why the IPOB keeps trying to trace their ancestry to Israel (and you laugh at their stupidity). This is why a Nigerian Muslim would readily kill a fellow Nigerian if he insulted the Arab culture. Religion, culture; we can not tell the difference. We do not know the difference.

If I made a post right now criticizing notable Nigerian ancestors, say Princess Inikpi of Igala, King JaJa of Opobo, Queen Amina of Zazzau or Princess Moremi Ajasoro of Oduduwa kingdom, it wouldn't raise a single spec of dust! and you know am speaking the truth. Hell, half the people on my list won't even know who these people are let alone come out to defend them or their ideologies. On the long run, this is how lost and confused we are right now.

Like a certain Indian friend keeps telling me, " Eze, your country will not grow until your people learn to be proud of their roots and develop a sense of national pride ". And to be sincere, I totally believe him. Because Nigerians, we do not have a goddamned clue who we are anymore, am seriously speaking.

I get scared when I think about our future as a people. At the pace with which we are losing ourselves, in about 100 years time to come, our identity, our languages, and what's left of our culture will be totally forgotten, mark my words. I would have said they will be history, but we do not even study our own history.

COMPUTERISED WATER BILLING SYSTEM FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENT

COMPUTERISED WATER BILLING SYSTEM FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENT
COMPUTERISED WATER BILLING SYSTEM   FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENT
COMPUTERISED WATER BILLING SYSTEM

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENT

The project topic chosen by our group is “COMPUTERIZED WATER BILLING SYSTEM”. However, before going into details describing the functional requirements of the system we will like to highlight briefly what we mean by Functional and Non-functional requirements.

Non-functional requirements describe how the system works thereby describing its process, while functional requirements describes what the system should do. In order words describing its components, input, behaviours and outputs.

In a computerized water billing system they can be of two types:

1. Metered system
2. Non-metered system

In the case of meter system like the name of a meter is used. This meter is placed and connected in the homes of the users and it helps to read the actual or exact water usage or consumption. Also, in this system there is minimum fixed charge, whereby the user will pay nothing less than the fixed charge in the given duration.

While in the case of non-metered system, no meter is used for any reading in given duration no matter the user usage of water or water consumption a fixed amount is paid. This payment, as earlier stated could be done in duration which could be daily, weekly, monthly, annually etc. per tap or water passage, per family or number of persons consuming the water.

The objective of the computerized water billing system is to produce accurate and reliable water bills for consumers.

With the above stated and properly understood, we will further discuss the functional requirement of the topic COMPUTER WATER BILLING SYSTEM below;

The billing operation can fall into three (3) processing groups namely: -

  • Daily Processing: - This process handles the daily consumption and gives a detailed account of it for every customer daily.
  • Weekly Processing: - just as the name implies “Weekly”, here the process handles the weekly consumption and gives account of it for every customer per week.
  • Monthly End Processing: - finally, here the process handles the monthly consumption and gives a detailed account of it for every customer at the end of every month.

Behaviour of the System

The computerized water billing system has to do with the process of eradicating the manual ways of recording or processing water bills. Its operation is characterised into two (2) namely:-

  • Supply Services: - Here it is responsible for the co-ordination of all available destinations in which water is supplied.
  • Marketing & Sales: - Here at this branch the marketing and sales of water and sales of water and processing of bills are carried out.

Some of the Inputs and Outputs include:
  • Meter Readings
  •  Cash Receipts
  • Maintenance documents

METER READING PROCESSING

The activities for the meter reading are executed in the following sequence:
  • Meter reading inserted on meter folios or reading sheets.
  •  Checking for meter books or reading sheets.
  •  Dispatch to data control.
  •  Data preparation. (i.e. Keying by data entry operation)
  •  Initial computer edit run.
  • Correction process by data control or commercial officers.
  •  Final edit runs (i.e. corrected records listing).
  • Dispatch meter books or reading sheets to commercial.
The consumption of the month is calculated by subtracting the previous readings from the present readings.

CASH RECEIPTS

The districts batch all balanced sets of consumer stubs by cashier daily intake and send to the data control section for preparation and for keying. Attached to each set is a “batch control ship” containing cash totals that are very useful controls in the system. The processing of cash receipts takes the following orders:-

  •  Balancing and dispatching of receipts.
  • Dispatch of data control.
  •  Data preparation (i.e. keying).
  •  Initial editing.
  •  Correction processing.
  •  Final edit dispatch.
  •  Dispatch of cash stubs to district accounts.

THE BILL PRODUCTION PROCESS

The bill processes takes place towards the end of each run. The preferable sequence of activities is as follows:-

  • Updating the consumers records maintenance document (CRMD)
  • Updating payments (cash receipts)
  • Calculate bills
  • Print bills
  •  Dispatch bills to commercial sections
The system resorts to estimation of bills in absence of meter readings.

THE BILLS

The bills gives complete information of the consumers accounts to the months of accounts of the bills each consumer is billed monthly in any of the runs. The consumer uses the bill for payment:-

The relevant information that appears on the bill monthly are as follows:-
  • Account number.
  • Month of account
  • Name and schedule number.
  •  Address lines.
  •  Meter information (under which we have)
                I. Number of meter reading.
                II. Meter number.
III. Date of reading (date meter was read or estimated).
IV. Present reading and “E’’ (estimation if applicable).
                V. Previous reading and ‘’E’’ (estimation if applicable).
VI. Quantity used (litres) and ‘’E’’ (estimation if applicable).
                VII. Average monthly consumption.

Our University Education And Religion, Where Are We Going? - A True Fact

Our University Education And Religion, Where Are We Going? - A True Fact
Our University Education And Religion, Where Are We Going? - A True Fact
As a child, I had very high hopes for my university education, it was supposed to be the place where I would meet some of the greatest minds of my generation. Then I went to a Nigerian university and met a bunch of dumb wannabe ' PASTORpreneurs ' and their unbearably naive flock of ' SHEEPle '. Boy was I disappointed! Our schools are breeding grounds for extreme religiosity rather than extreme academics. In my school, there were no book clubs, no science clubs, no study groups; just fellowships.

Everywhere you went at night, there was a different Christian fellowship to greet you, after filling up every available reading space, they would go on to the football field, the basketball court, the Science Park, hell, they even had one on the bloody sideway! it was that serious. " The Sidewalk Ministry ", that is not their actual name by the way, just something I made up (honestly, I do not even know if they have got a name at all). These guys were ridiculously hilarious.

You would normally find them every other evening gallivanting " up and down " on the roadside, blabbing away (speaking in tongues), howling like animals on heat and running all around the place like a bunch of escaped lunatics from a mental institution. I have got to admit, it was funny watching them fool around, to be honest. I remember one particular evening, we had a fixed lecture on the first floor of the Science Block 'A' and there was a Christian fellowship banging away on the second floor right above us. The fellowship was being held in a regular sized classroom, but they had a full drum set banging, coupled with trumpets, guitars, a piano, their singing, shouting, howling and blabbing (Speaking in tongues). We could not hear a word the lecturer was saying over the hocus-pocus.

Eventually he got really pissed and sent our course Rep. to ask them to stop the fellowship immediately; because we were in a school and not a church. The brethren departed after much protests. Looking at us through the classroom windows as they walked by, they had this disgusted ' God forbid ' look on their faces like they were looking at a legion of demons and condemned souls straight out of Hades. You know what, let me stop with all the reminiscing. I figure you get the point already.

You see, while university students in other parts of the world are busy making ground breaking discoveries, carrying out extensive scientific research, developing tangible ideas, creating amazing inventions and making the world a better place, Nigerian university students are busy ' fellowshipping '. We build scores of churches in schools but lack laboratories, We donate millions of naira into church development funds on campus but don't spend a dime on school excursions. Before you get to my school gate, right after the school sign board, there are over 15 sign posts of different churches bidding you welcome; not a single one belonging to an academic society.

The only time I ever heard of the National Association of Physics Students or the National Association of Science Students in my school was either during campus elections or student's registration. These associations are otherwise useless to the academic development of students. Regardless of the apparent " Godliness " being thrown around all over the place, campus cultism and moral decadence was never curbed. We were very notorious in those aspects. Shocking isn't it?

We have raised a whole generation of young people to live with one foot in this world and the other foot in the afterlife; teaching them to ignore the physical world before their very eyes whilst focusing on an imaginary afterlife paradise, and you wonder why the country Nigeria (our physical world) is in jeopardy. Our youth are raised on principles of ignorance, irrationality and zero common sense. That is why we keep relying on divine intervention to solve our problems for us like religion has ever made any country great." God will help us ", a Nigerian's favourite quote.

Why should we worry about scientific inventions when there is a paradise waiting for us in the afterlife and all we got to do to get to it is pray till we draw our last breath? Surely having a religion is more important than anything else in this world. More important than an affordable cure for cancer, more effective malaria vaccines, technological advancements and even common sense. By all means let's leave scientific discoveries and technological advancements to the Asians, Europeans and Americans to worry about. These are carnal desires and we are heavenly people.
The ball is right in your court and you really have to think to hit it, it is all your choice now, use your head, my people.

The Tragedy About Most Nigerian Marriages Today

The Tragedy About Most Nigerian Marriages Today
The Tragedy About Most Nigerian Marriages Today

The Tragedy About Most Nigerian Marriages Today is that girls date the love of their lives but end up marrying someone else. I would really like us to take a moment to analyze the Nigerian girlfriend.

Just take a look at this scenario, Boy meets girl and they fall in love. He dreams of a happily ever after with her, He is sure in his heart that he is going to end up with the girl. But the girl does not see it the same way. Don't get me wrong, she loves him. But only as a boyfriend not as husband material. ( Honestly, I am still trying to figure out how that works ).

She is not interested in building with him or helping him become her husband. She wants an ' already made product '. So she keeps thinking to herself;
"Where is this relationship taking us self?"
"He is almost the same age as I am."
"When is he going to make money?"
"When will he decide to settle down?"
"When will he be ready to propose before he will now come to pay my bride price?"
"Will I not get old in my father's house before then?"
Such are the thoughts that plague her subconscious in the dead of night. ( Because marriage is her number one priority in this life over everything else ).

Soon, she gives in to the pressure she has created for herself in her own mind and breaks up with her boyfriend. In less than three months, she is engaged to an ' already made man '. One who has made enough money to wife her. Boyfriend is devastated. But the real question here is, ' where did this new man come from? '. Three months seems like an awfully short period of time to know a man before accepting a ring from him. The truth is, he didn't just materialize out of thin air. He has always been there. But she had never really paid much attention to him nor did she get rid of him. She kept him around as a backup plan. In fact, she kept several backup plans, if I may say.

Nigerian girlfriends often than not, keep multiple side ccoks stashed away somewhere in case their boyfriends don't meet their required validity period. This event has a huge psychological impact on the boyfriend. He will probably never trust another girl ever again in his life. Thus, a serial cheat and fcuk boy is created. Hence, an unfaithful spouse. But he is not our focus for today.

Back to the girlfriend, so she ends up marrying this new guy, a considerably older man than the boyfriend, but the chemistry here is different. Maybe because of the age difference who knows. It is not the buddy buddy, best friend and lover lover kind of relationship she had with her boyfriend anymore. That is the kind where she was free to be free, naughty and wild to truly be herself. This one is more like an older brother and younger sister kind of relationship, sometimes uncle and niece, or in some extreme cases, father and daughter. Such rigidity, no fun, no romance, no friendship, just papa, and mama, she would never dare fart in his presence lol hehehehe.

They probably never really got to know each other well before tying the knot. She left the guy she vibes with, the one who knew everything about her and truly understood her for a total stranger all in the name of marriage, and in an interesting plot twist, she actually expects to keep up this charade for the rest of her life and hopes to god that it works out.

Then it does not. And she begins to watch War Room back to back and run from one prayer house to another. This is the classic origin story of many Nigerian marriages today. It is no longer about love, romance, friendship, companionship and compatibility. It is just about getting married for the sake of it. Having a glam wedding, Because apparently everyone else is doing it. I mean this is what society expects of them right, so why the hell not?

NYSC: My First Experience In Camp. [True Story]

NYSC: My First Experience In Camp. [True Story]
NYSC: My First Experience In Camp. [True Story]
When I got to camp, at the gate where you're searched for drugs and other contraband before you're allowed to enter, I carelessly opened my bag for security to search.

I was the least concerned about the entire process, I was just pressing my phone, impatiently waiting for them to finish so I could go get those insufferable three weeks over with. I had nothing to hide; or so I thought. "You came prepared" said the police woman. "Yes", I replied, smiling.

She wasn't reciprocating my energy. Something in my bag must have touched her on the wrong nerve. She proceeded to pull out four packets of condoms from my bag in the full glare of the public of igwë ndi mmadu. I had totally forgotten they were there. I have condoms stashed away in all my bags. Plus I didn't realize it was illegal for adults to carry condoms to a place they were going to be staying with other adults of the opposite sex for three whole weeks.
Thing is, there weren't just condoms in there. There were lubricants in there too. I really came prepared fam. She took those out too and asked, "what are these for?" I then proceeded to give her an elaborate and detailed lecture on the use of vaginal lubricants during sex. The Methods and Procedures, major findings, hypotheses, objectives, advantages, disadvantages, conclusions, recommendations, references, and appendice.

The only thing remaining was practical. Everyone present was shocked. Obviously the whole point of this exercise was lost on me. Like, how is this guy not ashamed to talk about sex in public, and at such reckless abandonment? That one was sha their problem. On the list of things I fear in this life, being sex shamed is public doesn't even make the cut.
I don't get how adults get to allow themselves to be ridiculed for having sex. Ordinary sex lason! Yes, I'm sexually active. So what? Na fuck I dey fuck, I no kill person. She confiscated them then asked me to pack my things and go inside. She put the condoms in the contraband pile, and put my lubricants in her pocket when no one was looking; but I saw and I smiled inwardly to myself.

If hypocrisy was a person, it would be a Nigerian.
