I personally came up with this solution after hearing a lot of rumors that Windows 8 OS does not hibernate, and it really dragged my attention back to the class room to remember what i was thought about upgrading or updating softwares. my lecture always laid emphasis on "features", that is to say that, old features of a software are not removed rather they a improved. so that made me to go into research on how i could hibernate a windows 8, as well proving all those who keep spreading the rumor that windows 8 doesn't hibernate.
below are the easy steps you can follow :-
press your 'Win-key' and type "hibernate".
click on 'Settings'
click on 'Change what the power buttons do'.
after doing the above correctly a 'System Settings' window will pop up, showing Power buttons and lid settings, Password protection on wakeup, and Shutdown settings.
under the Shutdown Settings, the check buttons are inactive, so to make them active, click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable', immediately the the check buttons for the 'Shutdown settings' will be come active active.
finally, check the 'Hibernate' option and click on 'Save changes'.
Below are the pictorial representation of the above listed steps:-
searching hibernate
choosing what the power button do
system setting window
choosing hibernate option
hibernate option added
By doing the above steps properly, the hibernate option will be automatically added to your power option and you can always access it by dragging your mouse pointer to the lower right corner of the screen and clicking on 'Settings' and clicking on 'Power' button to access it.
Finally you can now Hibernate your Windows 8 instead of shutting down or sleeping your computer, thus reducing battery consumption.
