OUR GENERATION'S DEFINITION OF CHRISTIANITY.

OUR GENERATION'S DEFINITION OF CHRISTIANITY.
OUR GENERATION'S DEFINITION OF CHRISTIANITY.
 In our present generation, people tend to define Christianity and christian related terms in their own way. Take a look below of some of these terms;

GOD:

A big, white bearded old Man who lives in heaven that is to be revered than loved, whose only duty is to give, bless, and take away sorrows.

SUNDAY:

Official religious day for public display of gorgeous attires in designated buildings, using the space between the church pews as runway.

CHURCH:

1. Organization of religious people with common interest and destination - Heaven, governed by pious doctrines and the preachers' laws.

2. An association of self righteous humans justified by their frequency at meetings, and vested with the power to judge and condemn non believers.

3. A religious building for weekly display of talents (singing, dancing, comedy etc).

PASTOR:

The supposedly infallible religious leader responsible for the members' righteousness and prosperity, as well as the afterlife destination.

CHOIR:

A group of church people with special singing abilities, usually led by the finest and most vocally talented.

INSTRUMENTALIST:

The orchestrators of sound, chiefly in charge of the feelings and mood of attendees.

The list goes on and on.

A lot of us are Christians by compulsion, groomed in the standard church system, bereft of a deeper knowledge of God, and are actually on our way to heaven. I simply believe that if God says today : "My people, I am no more in heaven, I now live in hell", many of us Christians would tell him to enjoy his hell alone and allow us to go to our heaven in peace. Oh, how much we have become more heaven-conscious than God-conscious.

We practise Christianity for the sake of heaven and carryout the religious doctrines just to avoid hell. But Jesus said : "If you love me, keep my commandments", not 'if you want to make heaven'. You are ignoring the landlord but preparing to go live in his house? No way, just forget it! The songwriter says: "Jesus will be what makes it heaven for me."

Friends, God demands our love too, just as much as He loves us. He yearns for us to just love him, than ceaselessly demanding for protection, blessings and prosperity. He longs for a cordial relationship with us, not for us to run to him because the devil is chasing us. He wants our heart. He wants us. Truly, God is love! Do you 'genuinely' love Him?
