If you don’t like the Wi-Fi network name and password your router came with, you can change them to anything you want in just a few clicks.
Your Wi-Fi router comes with a default network name and password. Often, both are printed on the case of the router itself. Changing your default network name gives you a chance to use something more personalized than “NETGEAR30” or “Linksys.” You could also use a password that’s easier to remember. To do all this, you’ll need to access your router’s administrative interface. And to do that, you’ll first need to find your router’s local IP address on your network. Here’s how.
Most routers provide a web-based administrative interface that you can access via your browser by typing in the router’s local IP address. Your first step is to find that IP address.
Note: Some routers provide different admin interfaces. For example, if you have an Apple Airport router, you can use the “Airport Utility” on your Mac to change its settings. Other router manufacturers offer smartphone apps for changing settings, and some more expensive routers are even beginning to include built-in touchscreens. So be sure to check for specific instructions for your router.
The chances are pretty high that you’ll need to use a browser to access your router. It’s best to do this from a computer, though, because many routers don’t have a mobile-optimized web interface that works well on smartphones and tablets.
On a PC running any version of Windows, the quickest way to find this information is in the Command Prompt. To open it, press Windows+R, type “cmd,” and then press Enter.
At the Command Prompt, type the command ipconfig and press Enter. In the results, look for the section showing your current network connection The router’s IP address is displayed to the right of the “Default Gateway” entry.
In macOS, click the Apple menu, and then select “System Preferences.” In the System Preferences window, click the “Network” icon, select your Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet connection, and then click “Advanced.”
Switch to the “TCP/IP” tab and look for the router’s address to the right of “Router”.
Next, you’ll need to access your router’s web interface. Open up your preferred browser, type the IP address you found into the address box, and then press Enter.
You’ll be asked to enter the router’s username and password to log in. If you’ve never changed these before, you’ll be using the default login credentials.
If you’re not sure what these are, you can experiment a bit. Often, the default password is either “admin” or just blank. On some routers, you may need to enter “admin” as the username and a blank password, “admin” as both the username and password, or “admin” as just the password with a blank username.

If you can’t figure out the credentials, you can look them up. Your router’s manual likely has the information—though most routers include a manual in PDF rather than a printed manual. You could also try performing a web search for “default password” and your router model. You can also try visiting this page, offers a list of default usernames and passwords for many different routers.
And, if you’ve set a custom password but can’t remember it, you’ll need to reset your router to its default settings.
After logging into your router, look for the Wi-Fi settings. Depending on your router, these may be on the first page you see, or buried in a section named something like “Wi-Fi”, “Wireless”, or “Wireless Networks”. Click around and you should find it.
You’ll see a setting named something like “SSID” or “Network name”. These are the same thing—the name of your wireless network.

For changing your Wi-Fi password, look for settings named something like “password,” “passphrase,” “wireless key,” or “WPA-PSK key.” Different routers use different names. We recommend using a fairly long wireless password, or even using a phrase instead of a single word. And while you’re here, go ahead and make sure you’re using the most secure authentication method you have available.
After entering your new Wi-Fi network name and passphrase, you’ll need to click “Apply”, “Save”, or a similarly named button to save your settings.
If you’re connected to your router’s web interface over Wi-Fi, your device will disconnect as the router shuts down its old Wi-Fi network and brings up a new one. Some routers need to restart themselves entirely to apply new settings, so you may lose the connection to the router even if you’re on a wired connection.
After the router settings change, you’ll need to reconnect all your wireless devices to the newly named wireless network and provide the new Wi-Fi password. Your devices won’t be able to connect until you do.

Depending on your router, you may actually have multiple Wi-Fi networks you can change. Some feature a separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network, for example, or even a separate guest network. Examine your router’s settings screens for more information about the available options.
Living in the public eye is a defining aspect of social media; even if you’re not an actor or musician, your life might be on display for the rest for the world every time you post a picture on Instagram. Occasionally, there might be people you don’t want seeing your posts. Maybe you’ve got an ex-lover keeping tabs on you. Whatever your reasons, you may have needed to block someone at some point.

If you’re using the Instagram app on your phone, tap the humanoid icon in the bottom right to open your profile.
Next, tap the menu icon in the upper right (the three dots) to bring up the options menu.
Scroll down to the Account settings and tap Blocked Users.
Here, you will see every user that you have blocked. Click on them to go to their profile. Then, simply tap Unblock.
Instagram will ask if you’re sure; tap Yes, I’m sure.
Although most us likely have access to our phones at all times, you can also unblock people from a computer. Instagram’s web portal isn’t quite as fleshed out as its mobile app, but it still lets you control most of the aspects of managing your account.
First, navigate to the Instagram website and log in to your account. The website doesn’t give you the same options menu that you have in the mobile app, so you can’t simply pull up a list of blocked users. Instead, you need to type the name of the person you want to unblock into the search bar.
Once you pull up their profile, click the menu icon (three dots) next to their username and select Unblock this user.
Note: Just because you’ve unblocked someone, doesn’t mean you’re necessarily friends again. When you block someone, it removes them from your followers, and you from theirs. Furthermore, according to Instagram, people you unblock will not receive a notification about it. As such, you will need to follow them again if you want to see their posts back in your feed, and you may have to let them know they can follow you to see your posts once again. Hopefully, they won’t ask any awkward questions about why you blocked them in the first place, but if they do, well, you can always just block them again.

Powerball is a multi-state lottery. It runs in all but six of the US states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
It replaced the Lotto*America lottery in 1992, becoming the first lottery game to use two drums to draw winners. One drum is used for the white balls and one for the red "Power" ball, which gives the lottery its name.
It offers one jackpot, which increases every time that no winning jackpot ticket is sold, and a variety of smaller cash prizes.
Winners are drawn on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:12 PM Central Time. The drawings are conducted at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The winning numbers are announced on television, on the Powerball website, in newspapers, and online.
In order to win the jackpot, players must correctly match all five white balls as well as the red Powerball.
There's no guarantee that a jackpot will be awarded in every drawing. If no one picks all six winning numbers, the jackpot rolls over to the next drawing.
As jackpot values soar, more and more people buy tickets, so a larger percentage of the possible number combinations are sold. Eventually, it becomes nearly impossible for a drawing to occur without a winner.
The Powerball Lottery's jackpot starts at $40 million and grows by at least $10 million each time the jackpot is not awarded. The jackpot can, and often does, reach values of hundreds of millions of dollars. As of 2016, the largest lottery jackpot in the history of the world was a Powerball jackpot worth over $1.5 billion dollars.
But there's more to Powerball than just the jackpot prizes. In every drawing, other cash prizes worth between $4 and $2,000,000 are also awarded. The value of the prizes depends on how many numbers a player has guessed correctly, and the number of prizes awarded in each drawing is limited only by how many people make correct guesses.
Basic Powerball cards cost $2 apiece. For an additional dollar, you can add the PowerPlay option, which increases the size of your prize if you correctly guess one to five qualifying numbers. So the maximum cost of a single Powerball ticket is $3.
If you purchase the PowerPlay option, the value of any prize you win for matching fewer than five balls will be multiplied by a randomly-drawn value between two and five. If the jackpot is worth less than $150 million, a 10x multiplier will be added to the mix.
For the payouts for matching five or six balls, the PowerPlay option works differently. The million-dollar prize that's awarded for matching five white balls without the PowerBall is always doubled to $2 million with the PowerPlay option. The other multipliers don't come into play.
The PowerPlay doesn't affect the size of the jackpot, which is fixed whether you purchase the PowerPlay option or not. No multipliers apply to jackpot payouts.
Powerball is a two-drum lottery game. One drum holds 69 white balls, while the other drum holds 26 red balls. Only one red ball will be drawn, and that red ball is called the Powerball.
When you buy your ticket, you select five numbers, which will be drawn from the first drum with the white balls, and one Powerball number. The winning Powerball number will be drawn from the second drum with the red balls.
You can choose your Powerball numbers or you can use Quick Pick, which draws your numbers for you at random.
The order of your first five Powerball numbers doesn't affect your chances of winning. If you pick the numbers 1 3 9 13 17 and the Powerball 6, and the winning numbers come up 17 9 1 3 13 (6), you'll still win the jackpot.
However, you must correctly guess the Powerball to win the jackpot. So in the example above, if the winning numbers come up 17 9 6 3 13 (1), you would not be a jackpot winner.
To win a Powerball prize, you only need to pick one single number correctly: the red Powerball.
Picking the Powerball alone will award you a $4 prize, which means that with a $2 purchase, you have one in 26 odds of doubling your investment in your ticket (there are 26 red balls to choose from).
To win the Powerball Jackpot, you need to match all five white balls in any order, as well as the red Powerball.

*The exact payout will depend on whether a 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X multiplier was drawn at random. The 10X multiplier is available only when the jackpot is worth less than $150 million.
Powerball.com lists the odds of winning a Powerball prize1. As of February 25, 2020, the odds were listed as follows:
Powerball Multi-Draw lets you easily play the same numbers on up to 26 consecutive drawings at the same time. Using Multi-Draw helps ensure you don't miss a drawing.
You can also choose the Future Drawing option on your Powerball ticket to play on specific dates. So if you feel like an upcoming date will be particularly lucky for you (maybe a birthday, anniversary, or a date containing a lucky number), you can be sure you won't forget to play on that day.
The Powerball.com FAQ Page points out that if you buy a Powerball card for every possible red ball, you'll be guaranteed to win at least the small prize. Of course, you'll have spent $52 to guarantee a $4 win, but if you match some of the white balls on those 39 cards as well, your total winnings will be higher.
Other than that, there's no secret to choosing winning numbers that will improve your odds. The number draw is totally random. Some people enjoy trying to work out a lottery strategy, but don't put too much faith in them.

To find out if you've won a Powerball prize, you need to check your numbers. If you are contacted by someone telling you you've won a jackpot, you're probably dealing with a lottery scam.
Many television stations broadcast the Powerball drawings live. You can also check your local newspaper or Google for the results online.
You can bring your ticket to a gas station, convenience store, or other location which sells tickets, to let them check your winnings for you. Just be sure to sign your ticket first, to avoid being scammed out of a win. It's best to ask for the winning numbers and check yourself than to hand over your ticket and ask if you've won.
There are also lottery apps that make it easy to check winning numbers. Some will even notify you if the tickets you have purchased come up as winners.

There can be situations when you have to split cells in Excel. These could be when you get the data from a database or you copy it from the internet or get it from a colleague.
A simple example where you need to split cells in Excel is when you have full names and you want to split these into first name and last name.
Or you get address’ and you want to split the address so that you can analyze the cities or the pin code separately.

Below I have a list of names of some of my favorite fictional characters and I want to split these names into separate cells.:
Here are the steps to split these names into the first name and the last name:
This will instantly split the cell’s text into two different columns.
Note:
Excel Text functions are great when you want to slice and dice text strings.
While the Text to Column feature gives a static result, the result that you get from using functions is dynamic and would automatically update when you change the original data.
Suppose you have the same data as shown below:
Extracting the First Name
To get the first name from this list, use the following formula:
=LEFT(A2,SEARCH(" ",A2)-1)
This formula would spot the first space character and then return all the text before that space character:
This formula uses the SEARCH function to get the position of the space character. In the case of Bruce Wayne, the space character is in the 6th position. It then extracts all the characters to the left of it by using the LEFT function.
Extracting the Last Name
Similarly, to get the last name, use the following formula:
=RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-SEARCH(" ",A2))
This formula uses the search function to find the position of the spacebar using the SEARCH function. It then subtracts that number from the total length of the name (that is given by the LEN function). This gives the number of characters in the last name.
This last name is then extracted by using the RIGHT function.
Note: These functions may not work well if you have leading, trailing or double spaces in the names. Click here to learn how to remove leading/trailing/double spaces in Excel.
There may be cases when you get a combination of names where some names have a middle name as well.
The formula in such cases is a bit complex.
Extracting the First Name
To get the first name:
=LEFT(A2,SEARCH(" ",A2)-1)
This is the same formula we used when there was no middle name. It simply looks for the first space character and returns all the characters before the space.
Extracting the Middle Name
To get the Middle Name:
=IFERROR(MID(A2,SEARCH(" ",A2)+1,SEARCH(" ",A2,SEARCH(" ",A2)+1)-SEARCH(" ",A2)),"")
MID function starts from the first space character and extracts the middle name by using the difference of the position of the first and the second space character.
In cases there is no middle name, the MID function returns an error. To avoid the error, it is wrapped within the IFERROR function.
Extracting the Last Name
To get the Last Name, use the below formula:
=IF(LEN(A2)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A2," ",""))=1,RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-SEARCH(" ",A2)),RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-SEARCH(" ",A2,SEARCH(" ",A2)+1)))
This formula checks whether there is a middle name or not (by counting the number of space characters). If there is only 1 space character, it simply returns all the text to the right of the space character.
But if there are 2, then it spots the second space character and returns the number of characters after the second space.
Note: These formula works well when you have names that have either the fist name and last name only, or the first, middle, and last name. However, if you have a mix where you have suffixes or salutations, then you’ll have to modify the formulas further.
Flash Fill is a new feature introduced in Excel 2013.
It could be really handy when you have a pattern and you want to quickly extract a part of it.
For example, let’s take the first name and the last name data:
Flash fill works by identifying patterns and replicating it for all the other cells.
Here is how you can extract the first name from the list using Flash Fill:
How Flash Fill Works?
Flash Fill looks for the patterns in the data set and replicates the pattern.
Flash Fill is a surprisingly smart feature and works as expected in most of the cases. But it also fails in some cases too.
For example, if I have a list of names that has a combination of names with some having a middle name and some don’t.
If I extract the middle name in such a case, Flash Fill will erroneously return the last name in case there is no first name.
To be honest, that’s still a good approximation of the trend. However, it is not what I wanted.
But it still is a good enough tool to keep in your arsenal and use whenever the need arises.
Here is another example where Flash Fill works brilliantly.
I have a set of addresses from which I want to quickly extract the city.
To quickly get the city, enter the city name for the first address (enter London in cell B2 in this example) and use the autofill to fill all the cells. Now use Flash Fill and will instantly give you the name of the city from each address.
Similarly, you can split the address and extract any part of the address.
Note that this would need the address to be a homogenous data set with the same delimiter (comma in this case).
In case you try and use Flash Fill when there is no pattern, it will show you an error as shown below:
