TO THE HEART THAT FEELS HEAVY TODAY: A Poem By Mfon Ekott

The feelings, they wrap you up

The heartaches, the solitudeSlowly, your joy is drowned

Deep in the murky waters of pain. 

You feign open smiles, pour out secret tears 

Fake laughs, silent screams 

The muffled moans and voiceless groans 

Make your eyes bleed in tiny puddles. 

Oh, the world! They don't care 

If they try, they give up too quickly

Carelessly, they leave you hanging 

And without balance, you fall with a thud.

Your back on the floor, pain in your body 

You look around, no one to help 

The sky is high, the earth is near 

To end it all, you sometimes feel. 

Good news, my dear, I bring

The dark clouds, are lined with silver

Cry, if you may, lighten your heart 

But the hope, alive, you must keep it.

For one thing, without doubt, is certain

At the tunnel's end, your light will come 

Again, you will glow, and burn anew 

Standing tall, and your head up high.

Just believe, and do not doubt 

Your tomorrow, is even brighter!!!
